835Direct is a HIPAA compliant remittance processing software used for translating the 835 Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA). After a claim has been received and processed, a payer produces an 835. This is a notice of payments and adjustments sent to providers, billers or suppliers which explains the reimbursement decisions for payments and adjustments of processed claims. The 835 is an industry-wide standard for electronically communicating reimbursement data under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) passed by Congress in 1996.
